Chapter 9

I couldn't shake the strange feeling in my chest after the engagement night. Whenever I closed my eyes, I kept remembering the way Aarav's hand felt on my back and how his gaze made it seem like we were the only two in the room. It made my heart flutter in a way that unsettled me. The best way to deal with it, I decided, was to avoid him. It wasn't easy, he was everywhere—discussing arrangements, overseeing plans and I managed to avoid him for five days and hoped to keep it up until the wedding.

Today was Riya's big shopping day, and I couldn't skip it. Tara and I arrived at her famous bridal boutique. The store was full of silk, embroidery, and beautiful fabrics in every color.
